Celebrating Lunar New Year 2025, Focal Studios once again brought St Luke’s Bombed Out Church to life with an unforgettable immersive projection mapped experience. This interactive journey blended mythology, nature, and local culture in a captivating video-game-inspired narrative.

Through collaboration with Pagoda Arts, we watched the cosmos birthed and evolved, as celestial pillars repaired, and harmony was restored by the goddess Nüwa. Journeying through a vibrant mountain landscape, where ecological balance was unlocked through gameplay, we witnessed a magnificent transformation as a jade snake became a dragon, spiralling through Liverpool’s iconic landmarks, joining a festive parade, and bestowing prosperity upon the city.

Working with local creatives Sam Gee (Animation and Design) and Amber Hooton | Polybrow (Music Composition and Sound Design) we combined forces to craft an immersive sonic and visual experience that would transport audiences across the globe to a world of wonder and magic. With a shared passion for innovation and storytelling, our creative collaboration resulted in a truly breathtaking display that pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in outdoor digital art.

To achieve this breathtaking effect, we’re utilised not one, but three state-of-the-art projectors. Two 35k lumens Panasonic projectors from AtoV, combined with our brand new 25k lumens Epson UK projector, creating a truly immersive experience that left spectators in awe. The sheer scale and brilliance of this display truly made it a must-see event for anyone looking to ring in the Lunar New Year in style.
